Relief Applications (Reliefapps.org) is a European-based organisation serving the international humanitarian and development sectors. Founded in 2014, Relief Apps is the result of the encounter of an IT expert and an experienced humanitarian during the Red Cross response to the Haiyan (Yolanda) typhoon in the Philippines. The pair realized that technologies almost always exist in the field, providing many opportunities in data management, and still are almost never used.
The organisation provides a variety of services bridging humanitarian work and cutting-edge technology to provide innovative solutions for humanitarian organisations and disseminating new IT tools, even simple ones, to significantly improve the efficiency of an organisation, and by doing so increase its impact.Type of projects
Relief Applications developed a platform (http://Emalsys.net) to help manage Emergency response rosters (ex. Need to deploy staff and volunteers after an earthquake). We also develop customized apps, web platforms, and monitoring and evaluation tools for clients such as the United Nations, INGOs, the French Red Cross or the Start Network.The Internship
The main responsibilities will be to help developing the Emalsys platform and the apps, mostly as a front-end or back-end developer. We use web and mobile technologies such as AngualrJs, Ionic, Grav, RESTfull API, Dependency Manager, versioning. We will provide necessary complementary trainings.
Good knowledge of PHP, HTML5/CSS, JS/jquery, bootstrap – and framework MVC (Symphony3).
Relief Applications offers a minimum of 554 €/month, reimbursement of transport costs, and a financial help for rent. We will also provide an Internship contract, and very good coffee + cornetti. We ideally need someone for 6 months, starting this summer or in September. Due to the nature of this position, only candidates legally eligible to work in the EU may apply.
